VA Veteran Justice and Jail Outreach Workers

  • The VA employs Veteran Justices Staff called Veteran Justice Outreach Workers (VJOs) and Jail Outreach Workers (JOWs) that help veterans with alternative sentencing. 

  • VJOs and JOWs can visit veterans in jail.

  • They can verify veteran status & benefits, get records, arrange treatment, and provide other services.

  • Attorneys, family members, and others, can also contact them for assistance with veteran cases.
